Our best cabins in Cornwall for exploring the coast

There's something special about Cornwall's coastline that keeps visitors coming back year after year. And what better way to explore it than from the comfort of your own private cabin? We've rounded up some of our favourite cabins in Cornwall, all within easy reach of the coast. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or a family-friendly base, there's something for everyone.

The Cabin at Halzephron House

Up the hill from the village, behind Sean & Alex's landmark house (you won’t miss the white crenelations) and across the walled garden, you’ll find your snug, seaside hideaway. A coastal path crosses the property leading to Gunwalloe beach, just a 5-minute walk away, though this beach is not suitable for swimming. Dollar Cove and Gunwalloe Church Cove are a 25-minute walk along the southwest coastal path (or a 15-minute walk by road). However, if you're looking for a swim-friendly beach, you'll need to head over to Porthoustock (a 10–15-minute drive). Porthoustock has a rocky beach which is perfect for exploring at low tide, and a sheltered sandy cove which is perfect for swimming. There is also a cafe on the beach, so you can enjoy a refreshing drink or bite to eat after your swim.

Halvana Forest Shed

With a basin made from a river boulder and beams from the surrounding woods, it’s fair to say that Halvana is in harmony with its environment. There are massive rambles through Bodmin’s dramatic scenery, studded with ancient stone circles, and it’s only a short drive to the coast for windblown hikes. The King’s Head is 1.5 miles away from Halvana and rewards you with a great pint or, if you time it right, a superb roast. The coast is a great place to spend a day exploring, and there are plenty of walks to choose from. Whether you want to amble along the cliff tops or stick to the beach, there’s something for everyone. And when you’re ready for a break, the King’s Head is the perfect place to relax and refuel.

The Lake

The container at The Lake is the perfect place to relax and take in the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The tranquil setting is perfect for unwinding, and the shifting light on the water makes for a peaceful atmosphere. The lake is a great place for walking, hiking, and exploring the countryside. There are also many local pubs in sleepy villages that are worth a visit. Explore Cornwall's dramatic coastline and beaches with Watergate Bay being the easiest to reach from The Lake, where you'll find a surf school – with hire facilities. The north and south Cornish coast is easily accessible from The Lake, making it perfect for seaside jaunts.

Quiet of Stars

Tucked away in a secluded spot, this stylish cabin offers the perfect base for exploring the stunning coastline of Cornwall. The Southwest Coastal Path is just five minutes away, so you can enjoy long walks along the cliffs and beaches. When you're ready to relax, you can soak up the atmosphere in one of the many charming cafes and pubs in the area. With its cosy interior and breath-taking views, this cabin is sure to become your home away from home.

Woodstock Lookout

This is the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy some peace and quiet. The two quirky cabins are set in a big, verdant field, just a short stroll from the Southwest Coast Path. Here you can enjoy stunning views of the coastline, take a refreshing dip in Prussia Cove or Perranuthnoe, and even hike up to St Michael’s Mount if you’re feeling energetic. In the evening, relax by the chiminea with a nightcap and enjoy the stars shining overhead.
